WFM 91.7- the voice of Women hosted 50 girls to the 1st edition of #TheFinancialGirl on Saturday 21 May 2016 at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Nigeria. #TheFinancialGirl a practical workshop aimed at making young girls financially aware. Hon. Lola Akande, Lagos State Commissioner for women affairs & poverty alleviation adopted one of the girls to mentor for life. An initiative of WFM91.7 Nigeria’s 1st radio station for Women & their families, #TheFinancialGirl is a tool to develop 50 girls every year on different areas of life skills.
The 1st edition focused on Health- the need to love & live a healthy lifestyle; on Insurance- the need to insure & secure all in case of emergencies & the need to be financially aware on all aspects of money matters from saving, creating wealth & investing.
Marian Francis-Hart of Bank of Industry charged the girls to dare to dream whilst BoI will consider supporting with 1 digit interest loans. Ebinyu Faloughi of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc demystified insurance as she explained in simple terms the importance of securing all that we own. Funmi Ajila Ladipo Fadan President while speaking on passion fashion & finance expetiated on the need for everygirl to be financially aware & put a value on her life. Dr. Dammie Akinyemi of Drdammilifestyleclinic gave practical steps on living a fun healthy longer lifestyle.
The 50 girls are beneficiaries of this once in a lifetime opportunity support and mentoring opportunities by the speakers and the sponsors. The 2nd edition of #TheFinancialGirl is scheduled Nov/Dec 2016.
