WOMEN URGED TO MOVE FORWARD IN GOVERNANCE AND POLITICS
Civil Society Organizations, Legislators and Stakeholders had a strategic meeting in Abuja on Women participation in politics and moving forward in Governance; with keen interest in the promotion and protection of women and girls in Nigeria.
The results and outcome from the 2019 elections which showed women still face serious obstacles in their bid for elected offices due to violence, intimidation and discrimination were discussed.
The contributions and participation of women in Governance and politics and the Status of the Gender and Equal Opportunity Bill at the National Assembly were reviewed.
Participants pledged their renewed support for women and resolutions were drawn to achieve full inclusion of women in Governance and Politics.
The one-day Strategic Meeting was organised by the European opean Center For Electoral Support ECES at Bon Hotel, Asokoro, Abuja.
