The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun commissioned the Arepo road in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state on Monday 14 November 2022. Speaking at the commissioning, Abiodun noted that the Arepo road project is a remarkable one and a reiteration of the commitment of his administration to good governance in the state and care for the people as the community has lamented over the years the deplorable state of the road.
The Olu of Arepo, Oba Solomon Atanda Oyebi in his speech commended the governor for fulfilling his promises made in the 2019 electioneering period by fixing the road which had caused the residents so much discomfort, causing hardship on motorists and business owners who lose customers due to the bad state of the road. Residents of Arepo also expressed their gratitude to the governor for the new and motorable road while appealing to the governor to grant their request to reconstruct the main gate leading into the community for security reasons. Some residents highlighted the need for a pedestrian bridge at the bus stop to avoid needless accidents on the expressway.
Ibinabo Dixon, the women leader of Jewels of Arepo also lauded the completion of the project while highlighting the benefits that residents would gain from the new project.
Dixon appealed that a pedestrian bridge, a health centre and a secondary school be provided to make the Arepo community better for the citizens.
