Every 3rd December marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
According to research, persons with disabilities are disproportionately affected by gender-based violence (GBV), with studies indicating that they are at least twice as likely to experience violence compared to those without disabilities.
This vulnerability is heightened across various forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, and emotional violence.
The intersectionality of disability and gender magnifies the risk, underscoring the urgency to address this issue comprehensively.
Today, Day 10 of the 16 days of activism against GBV, as we continue the advocacy, The OSAI Foundation raises awareness and advocates for the rights and protection of persons with disabilities in the face of GBV.
Let us protect the vulnerable.
