Celebrating One Year of ‘Everyday Muslim’ on Women Radio by MPAC
To commemorate the first anniversary of the programme ‘Everyday Muslim’ on Women Radio 91.7, the Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) organised a lunch meeting on Sunday, June 30 2024, in Lagos State.
In his welcome address, Disu Kamor, Executive Chairman of MPAC, expressed his appreciation to the management of Women Radio 91.7 for their collaboration and for providing a platform to clear misconceptions about Islam. Kamor highlighted that Women Radio has demonstrated inclusiveness and extended a supportive hand to the Muslim community, fostering improved tolerance. He emphasized the importance of using religion as a bridge for friendship and love rather than a force for separation.
Representing the Managing Director of Women Radio, Toun Okewale Sonaiya, Assistant Programmes Manager Rose Yusuf Kaisar acknowledged MPAC’s consistency with ‘Everyday Muslim’ throughout its first year. Kaisar stressed the significance of reaching Muslim women with inclusive programming, noting that ‘Everyday Muslim’ has been an educational initiative that delivers impactful information. She expressed hope for continued collaboration with MPAC to educate and inform the public about Islam.
Abdulrasheed Saliu, Chairman of the ‘Everyday Muslim’ radio committee, expressed gratitude towards the MPAC team, listeners, and Women Radio. He recounted the journey since June 10, 2022, stating that the programme was designed to guide everyday Muslims and address misconceptions, fostering peaceful coexistence. Despite funding challenges, Saliu highlighted their achievements and ongoing efforts to secure sponsorship to enhance the programme’s impact. He commended the audience partners, and the Women Radio team for their continuous support.
Disu Kamor, the Executive Chairman of MPAC, commended Women Radio for their expertise and resilience in the face of the current economic challenges. He reiterated MPAC’s commitment to promoting the right ideologies through its programmes, particularly in combating extremism, which poses a threat to common interests.
