Pastor Ajiboye Olayinka of Land of Joy Ministry denied bail over alleged sexual assault of underage girls
Pastor Ajiboye Olayinka, a 45-year-old General Overseer of Divine Land of Joy Prayer Ministry in Agah, Kwara state accused of sexually assaulting three underage girls from his congregation has been denied bail during his arraignment before Justice F. D. Lawal in Ilorin on Friday 12 July 2024 by the prosecuting counsel in the case.
The state counsel noted that the offences allegedly committed by Olayinka are rampant and urged court not to grant the application in the interest of justice to the survivors and the society.
The state counsel also cited that raping a minor is not bailable under the Kwara State administration of criminal justice laws. He maintained that the allegations against the accused were too weighty to warrant his bail.
Pastor Olayinka’s counsel had earlier been granted leave by the court to move the application for his bail premised upon an 11-paragraph affidavit.
The case according to a report by Solid Media was adjourned to a later date for ruling on the bail application.
