Arepo Golden Lions Club Hosts Free Eye Screening for Community Residents
In a continued effort to serve the community, the Arepo Golden Lions Club organized a free eye screening and health outreach on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Olu of Arepo’s Palace, Oba Solomon Atanda Oyebi. The event aimed to enhance residents’ well-being through free eye examinations, distribution of eyeglasses and health checks for diabetes and blood pressure.
Speaking with Women Radio 91.7, Lion Simon Njoku, the newly installed President of the Arepo Golden Lions Club for the 2024/2025 term, shared his excitement over the event’s success. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with his mission to support those in need. “Our primary goal was to raise awareness about health, especially eye care. I’m thrilled by the positive impact we’ve made here today,” Lion Njoku said.
Lion Rosemary Okosu, Zonal Chairperson for Region 8 and Secretary of the Arepo Golden Lions Club, also highlighted the importance of eye health, noting that many are unaware of their eye conditions until they become severe. She announced plans for a breast cancer awareness campaign and a hunger relief initiative to come in November.
Ganiyu Kazeem, Chairman of the Arepo Area Community Development Association, commended the Lions Club for its dedication to community health, especially for low-income residents who may not have access to regular health services. “This program is perfect for the community. While Arepo is often seen as an affluent area, there are residents with limited means who benefit greatly from these services,” Kazeem said, thanking the Lions Club for addressing essential health needs and bringing medical care closer to those in need.
