FGGC Bida Old Girls’ Association Celebrates 50 Years of Excellence
The Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Bida Old Girls’ Association has urged the federal government to adequately fund public schools, stating that alumni should not bear the sole burden of providing essential resources like infrastructure and internet access.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Bida Old Girls’ Association Dr Amina Salihu made this call on Friday 27 September 2024 in a media briefing at the National Centre for Women Development in Abuja, at the launch of the school’s 50th anniversary themed “50 Years of Memories, Magic & Milestones.” Salihu further called for collaboration and support from all community members to amplify their efforts, emphasizing the significance of personal contributions—whether financial or moral—to uplift both the school and the community.
Hilda Nkor, the Global President of the Association, in her opening address, expressed her excitement as the school marks five decades of academic excellence, sisterhood, and service adding that the anniversary will feature a series of events designed to honour the institution’s achievements and legacy.
“The week-long celebration will kick off with a Sensitization and Public Awareness Campaign in Bida on Monday seven October 2024. This will be followed by an Intercollegiate Quiz and Debate Competition on Tuesday, eight October 2024, and a Free Medical Outreach on Wednesday, nine October 2024, aimed at giving back to the Bida community,’’ Nkor added. Highlighting the spirit of camaraderie, the celebrations include a Novelty Football Match between old and current students on Thursday, ten October 2024, fostering unity among generations. A Variety Night on Friday, eleven October 2024, will showcase the cultural diversity of the FGGC Bida community.
Nkor highlighted the remarkable achievements of FGGC Bida, noting that the institution has produced over 4,000 graduates excelling in various fields worldwide.
