WAMAC GIJC25 Closing Remarks

As the Global Investigative Journalism Conference GIJC25 comes to a close today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Media and Journalism Cohort (On Nigeria 2.0 project) of the MacArthur Foundation would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kole Shettima, Africa Director of the MacArthur Foundation, and his colleagues from Chicago. Their unwavering support and inspiration have been instrumental in our organizations’ journey towards sustainability. The cohort’s work has been significantly enhanced by the foundation’s guidance, and we are deeply appreciative of their commitment to our cause.

Wadata Media and Advocacy Centre (WAMAC), the coordinator of the MAJ cohort at the GIJC25, remains grateful for the trust and guidance provided by the MacArthur Foundation. The GIJC25 has been a resounding success, bringing together investigative journalists and media professionals from around the world to share knowledge, ideas, and best practices. The conference has provided a unique platform for networking, collaboration, and learning, and we are grateful to have been a part of it. We look forward to continuing our work with the MacArthur Foundation and to the next GIJC, where we can continue to build on the progress made here.

We hope to receive support from McArthur again for the GIJC27 in The Netherlands.

Thank you.

Zubair Abdurra’uf Idris
Executive Director
WAMAC
