AISHA BUHARI MAKES HISTORY. LEADS NIGERIAN WOMEN TO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Nigeria’s first Lady Dr. Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari made history on Wednesday 23 February 2022 as the first First Lady to be received into the National Assembly. Aisha Buhari led Nigerian Women on a historic visit to the Senate Chambers and the House of Representatives to witness the laying of the Report of the Constitution Review Committee.
Aisha Buhari congratulated the leadership and members of the 9th National Assembly led by distinguished Senator Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila for it’s demonstration on inclusion and gender sensitivity towards an equitable Nation building.
The honourable minister of Women affairs Dame Pauline K.Tallen OFR KSG who facilitated the visit commended the First Lady on behalf of Nigerian Women for her unflinching commitment to the cause of Women and children.
The first lady was accompanied by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs Dame Pauline K. Tallen, Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, Country Representative of UNWomen to Nigeria and ECOWAS Comfort Lamptey, former Ministers of Women Affairs & Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina and Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma. Others are female government officials, women from private sectors and Civil Societies including representatives of Women in Politics Forum, Nigerian Women Trust Fund, Women Advocates Resource and Documentation Center, Womanifesto, 100 Women Lobby Group, Association of Women in Trade and Agriculture, The Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria, Catholic Women Organization, National Council of Women Affairs amongst others.
