Congratulations Oyo House of Assembly
Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the Bill to adopt the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act today18 December 2020.
We commend Honourable Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji who initiated the bill and members of the house who showed strong solidarity. Oladeji represents Ogbomosho North constituency.
Nigeria’s Honourable Minister for Women Affairs Dame Pauline K Tallen was in Ibadan Oyo State capital today with a very strong voice in her support for the passage of the bill for adoption
We applaud efforts of Nigerian Women Trust Fund NWTF, The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Westminster for Democracy, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Women Arise and Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) who gave strong technical support to achieve this.
We urge Governor Seyi Makinde to switfly sign the bill into law and call on remaining 17 Nigerian states to adopt the Act.
